Peace be upon you,

My name is Yossef Alhallaq, an English teacher and the founder of the Smart Institute for Training and Development in Gaza. For years, our center empowered children and youth with language, life skills, and emotional support. But everything changed.
Due to the difficult circumstances in Gaza, our institute was forced to close. The children we once taught are displaced, and the dreams we once nurtured now hang in uncertainty.

Personally, I find myself facing another painful reality: my family is separated. My wife and son are currently in Egypt, and I remain here in Gaza. The cost to leave is sky-high due to restricted borders and the humanitarian crisis — has made it impossible for me to reunite with them.
Though I continue to volunteer in the field of social-emotional learning (SEL) and mental health support for children. However, my ability to continue is being crushed by war, conflict, displacement, and separation. I long for a safe place, for peace, and for the chance to be with my family again.
