Hope for Shimma and Her Children: A New Beginning
My name is Shimma, and I am a mother of four children. I recently came to Canada under extremely difficult circumstances, fleeing an abusive relationship in hopes of building a safer future for myself and my children. One of my daughters is currently studying to become a doctor in Ukraine and has just two years left to complete her degree. I came here not only to find safety but also to try and support her dreams, and those of my other children. Since arriving in Canada, I have been doing everything I can to build a stable life — I’ve been taking English classes and actively searching for work. Despite my efforts, it has been incredibly difficult to find a job, and I’m now facing serious health challenges. I am currently being tested for tuberculosis and awaiting results that may require immediate treatment. My youngest child is 11 years old and is here with me. My 15-year-old son, who has autism, is still in my home country. Not being able to care for him directly breaks my heart every day. Right now, I am asking for help. I am struggling to cover even the most basic needs — including rent as well as supporting my children— while I wait for medical answers and continue looking for work. If you are able to donate anything at all, it would help me keep a roof over our heads and give me a chance to recover and rebuild. Your support would mean the world to me and my children. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. With deep gratitude, Shimma

Help Ghada's family in Gaza rebuild their lives
Hello, I am Ghada Al Sersawi, a member of a family with a paralyzed father and an autistic brother, among three families who had to live in a single tent in Gaza after their homes were destroyed. A girl from a simple family, we had a very simple house to hide in, despite its smallness and narrowness, it was our safe haven, our life was very difficult as my father was sick (stroke) and my younger brother had special needs (autism), and despite our harsh circumstances, I was always excelling in my studies and always in first place, I had very big dreams but I always had the thought of what next..? Is it possible for me to achieve my dream one day? My circumstances only made me more determined, I distanced myself from everyone, I was alone with myself and my studies until I got a GPA of 95.1 in high school, thank God, my GPA allowed me to enter university with a full scholarship but on the condition that I maintain a certain GPA, during my studies I needed a laptop as my specialization required it (secretary and medical records), I worked as a teacher for a number of students for a very small fee in order to collect its price, I was very tired as I was working all day and studying at the same time, and I asked one of my relatives for a loan to complete its price. And as soon as the fateful day of October 7 came, on the first day and in the blink of an eye we do not know how the situation turned upside down, our safe haven was bombed with all its dreams and all its hardship and fatigue, even my computer, which I did not complete its installments, was gone and did not return, everything became ashes, even my dream of completing my studies and developing myself. I am now very lost and I need someone to support me, how can I be my own crutch and the crutch of my family, I need to be their next support, I hope that I can meet their needs, provide treatment for my father and provide support for my brother and be the back of my mother whose health has been affected by fatigue.. I need to complete my dream and compensate my family and myself for everything we have lost, we are now starting from scratch to build a decent life only and not a luxurious one and we need someone to support us even a little.
