My name is Shimma, and I am a mother of four children. I recently came to Canada under extremely difficult circumstances, fleeing an abusive relationship in hopes of building a safer future for myself and my children.

One of my daughters is currently studying to become a doctor in Ukraine and has just two years left to complete her degree. I came here not only to find safety but also to try and support her dreams, and those of my other children.

Since arriving in Canada, I have been doing everything I can to build a stable life — I’ve been taking English classes and actively searching for work. Despite my efforts, it has been incredibly difficult to find a job, and I’m now facing serious health challenges. I am currently being tested for tuberculosis and awaiting results that may require immediate treatment.

My youngest child is 11 years old and is here with me. My 15-year-old son, who has autism, is still in my home country. Not being able to care for him directly breaks my heart every day.

Right now, I am asking for help. I am struggling to cover even the most basic needs — including rent as well as supporting my children— while I wait for medical answers and continue looking for work. If you are able to donate anything at all, it would help me keep a roof over our heads and give me a chance to recover and rebuild.

اسمي شيما، وأنا أم لأربعة أطفال. جئتُ مؤخرًا إلى كندا في ظروفٍ بالغة الصعوبة، هربًا من علاقةٍ مسيئة، أملًا في بناء مستقبلٍ أكثر أمانًا لي ولأطفالي.

إحدى بناتي تدرس حاليًا لتصبح طبيبة في أوكرانيا، ولم يتبقَّ لها سوى عامين لإكمال شهادتها. جئتُ إلى هنا ليس فقط بحثًا عن الأمان، بل أيضًا لمحاولة دعم أحلامها وأحلام أطفالي الآخرين.

منذ وصولي إلى كندا، أبذل قصارى جهدي لبناء حياةٍ مستقرة - أدرس اللغة الإنجليزية وأبحث بنشاطٍ عن عمل. على الرغم من جهودي، كان العثور على وظيفةٍ أمرًا بالغ الصعوبة، وأواجه الآن تحدياتٍ صحيةً خطيرة. أُجري حاليًا فحص السل، وأنتظر نتائجه التي قد تتطلب علاجًا فوريًا.

ابني الأصغر يبلغ من العمر ١١ عامًا وهو معي هنا. ابني المصاب بالتوحد، البالغ من العمر ١٥ عامًا، لا يزال في وطني. عدم قدرتي على رعايته مباشرةً يُحزنني كل يوم.
