My name is Lyne, and I’m writing to you from Lebanon with something very personal and close to my heart. My partner Omar and I are hoping to get married and start our life together in a way that reflects our values—through love, commitment, and faith. But the reality we’re living makes that dream increasingly difficult.

Beyond the daily economic crisis we face in Lebanon, the recent war and instability in the South have made things even harder—emotionally and financially. It’s been an incredibly heavy time for so many of us here. On top of that, my family is currently against our marriage, which has created added emotional strain and urgency. They are against our marriage because of stereotypical middle eastern mentality related to age and reputation. By reputation, i mean they want me to marry someone rich and or higher social status. I’m working multiple jobs just to manage basic expenses, while Omar is still finishing his university degree.

We’re doing everything we can to build a future together, but we’re at a point where we need help. We’re not looking for extravagance—only enough to afford the modest costs of a proper marriage and a safe start to our life. We’ve chosen not to make this request public on social media, out of respect for our privacy and the sensitivity of the situation. That’s why I’m reaching out to you personally.
