Powering Breath: Affordable Ventilators for Africa
Powering Breath: Affordable Ventilators for Africa
Hi. My name is Hank DeBey. My team and I are in Africa, and we have developed an amazing new medical device to treat the most lethal diseases in Africa, lung diseases. Lung diseases kill more than three times as many people as malaria. An essential tool for treating lung diseases is the ventilator, but in Africa, ventilators are virtually non-existent. In Africa, there is less than one ventilator for every 100,000 people, while in the USA, there are 35 ventilators for every 100,000. The primary reason ventilators are rarely found in Africa is they are very expensive, ranging from $20,000 to $55,000. Another factor contributing to the scarcity of ventilators in Africa is the fact that they require a procedure called intubation and people sufficiently trained to carry out intubations are about as scarce as the ventilators themselves. We have developed a ventilator that is perfect for use in Africa. We call it the Afri-Genie ventilator, and it offers a truly life-saving solution for millions of people across Africa each year. Our Afri-Genie ventilator is incredibly low-cost at less than $3,000 and it doesn't require intubations to be performed, yet it achieves the basic specifications of conventional ventilators. Those two factors mean that it can be deployed not only in big city hospitals but it can even be used by minimally-trained community health workers in small rural clinics. A key design principle of our Afri-Genie ventilator is the use of locally available materials common across Africa, such as plumbing pipes and automotive repair parts. This eliminates complex, expensive supply chains and simplifies manufacturing and ongoing product support. We urgently need your help to carry out clinical trials of our new ventilator and to start deploying it as widely as possible. Here is How Your Contributions Will Be Used: Our passionate team of volunteers has been earning only small stipends. Your contributions will allow us to provide them with fair salaries. We will produce multiple ventilators for Accelerated Life Testing (ALT), operating 24 hours a day to prove durability and reliability. Because our city is subjected to daily power outages, we will install solar panels to provide uninterrupted power for the testing of the ventilators and other work. We will relocate to a larger facility that can accommodate our growing operations. Funds will also cover various expenses related to clinical trial preparation, including regulatory approval applications, supplies, and logistical requirements. Of course, these aspirations hinge upon the help you can give us and the actual level of these activities will be scaled according to the donations received Please click the donate button now.

Help Salem, who fights malignant liver disease
Help Salem, who fights malignant liver disease
hello, I'm Kaci, I'm the one running this campaign for this family. This is his story:  My name is Salem, I am 48 years old, I live in Gaza, in the heart of war and destruction. Life here is full of challenges and difficulties, but I still fight every day to survive, not only against the harsh conditions, but also against a merciless disease.     I suffer from chronic heart disease and *malignant liver cancer* that threatens my life. Doctors told me that I am in an advanced stage of the disease, and that if I cannot get treatment in time, it will be too late. In Gaza, where wars devour our lives and medical resources are scarce, getting treatment has become very difficult.    I have tried to withstand these conditions, but the situation has become more difficult day after day. The pain does not leave me, and it has become difficult for me to continue my daily life with my family. I suffer from constant fatigue, loss of appetite, and significant weight loss, and every day that passes I feel that I am further away from my dreams and the dreams of my family.   Today, I am writing to you from a heart full of hope, hoping to find  Who can help me in this ordeal? I have decided to open my heart and ask for your help in this difficult time. I need the treatment that could save my life, give me another chance to live, and I ask you to stand with me in this fight, every donation, no matter how small, will make a huge impact in my life. Donations will help me get the necessary and expensive treatment that I cannot afford on my own. With you, I can fight and dream of a recovery that will restore my life and open up new opportunities for me to live with my family.    I only ask for another chance in life, a chance to survive for my loved ones, a chance to raise my family's head after wars and disease have destroyed it.  Please, do not leave me in this darkness, and be a light in our path.  *Help me complete this journey.*    Thank you to everyone who contributed, whether by donating or by sharing the campaign. Your support could be the reason for giving me a new life. May Allah reward you.

Hydrocephalus baby born
Hydrocephalus baby born
My child was born via cesarean section at Al-Roum Hospital in Beirut. Since birth, he suffered from a brain condition diagnosed as hydrocephalus, which required surgery at two months of age to implant a drainage device (shunt). At six months old, it was discovered that the device had failed, resulting in a build-up of fluid, brain pressure, lack of oxygen, and temporary cardiac arrest. An urgent second surgery was performed. Afterwards, he developed seizures due to abnormal brain activity and has been on anti-epileptic medication since then. At the age of one year, a third surgery was conducted due to previous surgical errors. Since then, my child has experienced physical and developmental delays, including difficulty walking and delayed speech. Current Condition (Age: 4 years): Delayed walking and inability to balance properly. Severe speech delay and inability to express himself. General motor delay, including fine and gross motor skills. Suffers from brain seizures and is on continuous medication. Undergoes regular sessions of speech therapy, sensory and motor therapy, and occupational therapy. Unable to attend school due to his special medical needs. Social and Economic Situation: The child is the only son and requires full-time care by his mother. The family suffers from severe financial hardship and cannot afford the continuous medical expenses. Support the Zahle Center: Bringing Hope to Syrian
Support the Zahle Center: Bringing Hope to Syrian
Support the Zahle Center: Bringing Hope to Syrian Refugee Children The Reality of Syrian Refugees in Lebanon Lebanon, a small country with a population of around six million, is currently facing a **severe economic crisis, political instability, and the challenge of hosting over one million Syrian refugees**. Since the 2019 financial collapse and the 2020 Beirut port explosion, Lebanon's economy has deteriorated drastically, leading to high inflation, rising unemployment, and shortages of essential goods, making life extremely difficult for its people. In this situation, Syrian refugees are facing even more severe hardships. Fleeing war, they have no secure shelter, no stable jobs, and no guaranteed access to education. **More than 500,000 Syrian refugee children lack access to formal education.** Growing up in harsh conditions, they are left without the opportunity to plan for their future. *The Role and Necessity of the Zahle Center* Amidst these challenges, education support for refugee children is being provided in Zahle, Lebanon. The Zahle Center plays a crucial role in offering a stable learning environment and essential education for refugee children. Currently, the center operates four classrooms, where 133 Syrian refugee children are receiving an education. These children, who would otherwise have no access to learning, are gaining basic literacy, numeracy skills, and life education** that will help them build a better future. At this center, children learn core subjects such as reading, writing, mathematics, and essential life skills, helping them prepare for a better future. Beyond academics, the center also provides emotional stability and basic life support to help children grow into healthy and responsible individuals. However, the Zahle Center is currently facing a severe financial crisis. - Lack of funding for teachers' salaries threatens the continuation of education. - Shortages of textbooks and learning materials make it difficult for children to study effectively. - Limited support for meals and essential supplies puts children's well-being at risk. - Rising operational costs (rent, utilities, etc.) are making it increasingly difficult to maintain the educational facility. If these issues are not addressed, the Zahle Center will be unable to continue its operations, and these 133 children will lose their opportunity to learn. *Now Is the Time to Help* The Zahle Center is currently providing education to 133 refugee children, but continued operation depends on urgent support. Your interest and generosity can change the future of these children. How Your Donation Will Be Used: - $3,000 → Supports a teacher’s(6 teacher's) salary to ensure stable education - $2,000 → Helps cover rent and utility costs to maintain the learning environment - $1,000 → Support for student activities and textbooks Your donation is not just a financial contribution. It is an opportunity to open doors for these children’s futures. If education stops, refugee children will be at greater risk of **poverty and exploitation. However, if they can continue learning, they will gain the skills they need to become independent and find hope. *Why Your Help Matters* These refugee children had no choice but to leave their homes, and they now live in difficult conditions. What they need is not just survival but a chance to build their own lives. The education provided at the Zahle Center equips these children with the ability to become self-sufficient and gain confidence in their future. To achieve this, consistent support is needed, and even small contributions can create a significant impact. *Beyond Financial Support, Your Encouragement Matters Too.* - Raise awareness about the right to education for refugee children. - Share their stories with your community. - Even a simple message of support can make a difference. *Together, We Can Bring Change!* Education is the most powerful tool to transform a child's future. When we work together, we can ensure that these children continue to learn and grow. Join us in bringing hope to the 133 refugee children at the Zahle Center. Your generosity and care can change lives and build a brighter future. Thank you. Your support makes a real difference.
